HIMALAYAN HUES
Located in the peaceful Sikkimese Village of Pangthang the site offered what one can only compare to a surreal dream. From the hues of the sky, the majestic Mt.Kangchenjunga hidden and revealed by the ever-changing clouds, the rare birds visiting the forests of the Fambonglho Wildlife Sanctuary in the untouched trees of the valley the site truly offered powerful inspiration for this modern mountain design. Adding flavour to all this we incorporated the Sikkimese culture boldly throughout the design from exterior architecture till the interior details.

Transforming the experience of the residents and travellers who visit it as a surreal journey through Sikkim. This journey was carefully curated while designing in section in relationship with the view and the principle of hide and revealing the surreal view or the unique Sikkimese design elements. Sikkimese elements have been used in a modern interpretation to create design elements that contextualises the spaces created and to truly add meaning to the space.
Entering the building in a mid-point with a public reception lounge attached to a warm dining area which opens up to a large open terrace with the most beautiful view of the valley with Mt.Kangchenjunga Range. Then the Journey is curated like a hike to the top penthouse which is to give the surreal experience of reaching the mountain top along with interesting viewpoints which becomes guest bedrooms.

Public Spaces
Imagine entering a mountain home on a long travel to take rest only to be amazed by its warm charm and the stunning view it has to offer through its window. Transforming this beautiful experience into interior was the direction of design for this entry level. The users enter a warm cozy space with local touch and a breath-taking view to ease themselves to surreal life in Sikkim. With traditional fireplace and an infinity deck offering a stunning view of Mt. Kanchenjunga the guests are immediately drawn to these spaces to forget their travel strains. Over time though the carefully placed artifacts and artwork slip into their eager minds to provoke and discover new ideas.
Guest Rooms
The guest rooms reflect the journey of living in a warm continuous colorful Sikkimese home in the humblest way possible. Taking Abstract colors and forms of Sikkim we have curated the interiors to be homely yet comfortable to connect with nature and local culture. All the guest rooms get natural sunlight and the view of magnificent Mt. Kanchenjunga which makes the experience truly humbling. Materials and colors are chosen carefully to bring out the boldness and warmth of a Sikkim home. Modern and traditional furniture are mixed intentionally in the space to give maximum comfort in the most minimalistic way.
The Penthouse
Dreamy was the encapsulating word for the interior direction of this penthouse. An open plan makes the drawing, living, dining, kitchen, attic study, and attic jacuzzi bath feel like one volumetric space at the same time interacting with each other playfully. The interacting volumes with various views and functions throughout the day truly bring out the dreamy experience we intended. The spiral staircases leading to the attics become a spatial focus feature with their woodwork and careful locations. This unit has a master bedroom and a compact guest bedroom. Further, the study attic with the view also can be adapted to a cozy bedroom when required. Each space has a strong Sikkim essence with subtle touches and the focal object to be interesting interpretations of Sikkim. They will be further elaborated in full detailed project presentation.
